Volume loss in the face begins in the thirties and continues throughout life. Volume loss predominantly occurs in the midface or cheek area but also occurs around the mouth and jawline.
As the cheeks lose volume there is less support to hold up the lower face. The cheeks also descend as we age over time and this exacerbates loss of support in the lower third of the face. The combination of these factors leads to the formation of jowls along the jawline. It also causes the face to look saggy and tired.
This lady as had the area in front of her jowls treated to straighten the jawline. This reduces the appearance of heaviness and sagginess in the lower face and produces a more attractive, youthful appearance.
